What is an Herbalist?

Lisa is currently an Associate Member of the American Herbalist Guild and working towards being a Registered Herbalist through this peer-review organization. The AHG says it well:

"Herbalists are people who dedicate their lives to working with medicinal plants. They may be native healers, scientists, naturopaths, holistic medical doctors, researchers, writers, herbal pharmacists, medicine makers, wild crafters, harvesters, herb farmers or even your grandmother or grandfather. Many have an intimate relationship with plants and their medicinal value. While herbalists approach their craft from various traditions, they share a common respect for all forms of life, especially the relationship between plants and humans. Herbalists apply traditional practices and evidence-based research of plants to support healthy function of the human body. A clinical herbalist is part of your wellness team, working collaboratively with you to support your health and wellness goals."   americanherbalistsguild.com

Lisa LeCuyer Kofakis, MH, NBC-HWC, ESM™SP

As an Herbalist, I feel deeply called to serve as a bridge between people and the plants. It brings me joy and purpose to help others discover the healing wisdom of herbalism and the power of creating plant medicines that truly support body, mind, and spirit.

As a Health & Wellness Coach, I walk alongside you to help clarify your health goals and create practical, meaningful steps toward achieving them. Together, we explore balance, energy, and resilience—supporting not just physical well-being, but also emotional, spiritual, and lifestyle needs. Coaching often complements the herbal work beautifully, creating a truly holistic path to wellness.

On our land outside of Clayton, WI, I tend a medicinal herb garden and also gather plants through mindful wild-harvesting.  I offer herbal coaching appointments, thoughtful recommendations, and custom blends designed to support your body’s natural systems and address specific concerns with care and intention.

I also love sharing this plant wisdom in community—through plant identification walks and hands-on classes that invite you to connect with herbs for your own health and healing.

Every plant grown and every medicine made is an offering of gratitude for the love and support we receive from the natural world, each other and all that is around us.
